17 Apr Select works from the MUŻA collection at BOZAR Centre of Fine Arts in Brussels
Excited! Some of our best pieces are currently on show at BOZAR Centre of Fine Arts in Brussels in the highly-acclaimed exhibition – Malta. Land of Sea – set up on the occasion of the Maltese presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The exhibition, curated by academic, art historian and MUZA project lead Sandro Debono, features a carefully-selected series of heritage objects and artworks in different media, including sound, juxtaposed and connected in ways and means that explain continuity, change, connections and contrast. Works on display are grouped in ten clusters each telling the story of Malta as a territory of land and sea.
Works of art from the MUZA collection on display include Mattia Preti’s St John the Baptist Wearing the Red Tabard of the Order of St John, a Maltese eighteenth-century prie-dieu, the Bird’s Eye View of Grand Harbour by an as yet unknown Maltese eighteenth-century artist, J.M. W. Turner’s View of Grand Harbour and a sixteenth-century icon by the Cretan school.
‘Malta.Land of Sea’ is a joint project and collaboration initiative between BOZAR, Heritage Malta and Arts Council Malta with the support of the Maltese Presidency of the European Union. More information on BOZAR website.
